What does the Catholic church think of JW?
by Halcon inon a trip to rome a few years ago i asked my friend (who is roman and jw) what the catholic faith thinks of jw.
he simply stated that jw is tolerated by the church but that really not much thought is given to them.
is there an official stance on jw by the catholics?

@aquasedThanks for the contextual perspective. Helpful. Would you agree with this AI Google response to the question: Was denying the Real Presence a capital offence during the inquisition?Answer:Yes, denying the Real Presence of Christ in the Eucharist was a capital offense during the Inquisition. This was particularly true in regions like England, where it was a capital offense during Henry VIII's reign and continued to be a crime punishable by death for those who refused to compromise with the Catholic Church. The Real Presence, the belief that Christ's body and blood are present in the Eucharist after consecration, was a central tenet of Catholic belief and was often linked to other heresies that were also punishable by death. For example, in the English Reformation, those who denied the Real Presence faced severe consequences, including death, especially during the reigns of Henry VIII and Edward VI. The Inquisition, which was a church institution tasked with finding and punishing heresy, was a key tool in enforcing Catholic doctrine, and the denial of the Real Presence was one of the most serious offenses it dealt with. -

Jan, do you believe that government officials who refuse to enforce immigration laws in hopes of increasing their voter base are acting criminally?
20-30 million people invaded our country under the totally lawless regime of Biden who refused to enforce immigration laws. Then, many government officials continue their despotism by trying to get these impoverished people to vote, which is getting easier to do. Lawless New York City now has nearly a million non-citizen city residents eligible to vote.
These law-breaking citizens of foreign nations will predictably vote for whomever promises the most government hand-outs and us real citizens are then forced to pay for it. Yea, that's right. We are FORCED to pay for a lawless scam that cancels the votes of real citizens.

This is part of the broader mission to lead all people to the fullness of truth found in Christ and in the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
@aqwsed12345
We agree on a great many things of orthodoxy. And for that, I am much grateful for your many posts. But, bible believers not affiliated with anyone other than Christ, and certainly not the Catholic church, has theological problems with statements like the above. Jesus is the TRUTH, not you, not me, not any church. That's what the boss says. Deal with it.
We JW kids had this "truth" stuff crammed down our throats, all the while their false prophecies were failing. The few of us that were saved out of that hell hole bear witness to Christ in the very midst of heresy. It's all we ever knew. But, when God wants you and hunts you down, it doesn't matter. Truth is found in Christ alone since he alone is the TRUTH.
So, while I am grateful for the Popes of the last 200 years, history cannot forget the 19 Popes in a row that facilitated the death of 50 million Europeans in a cooridinated systematic way during the Papal Inquisition. What a nightmare that was. 600 years of terror.
Not all of your brothers share your affinity for the Papal Church, though we all support the catholic (universal) church. -

Welcome to freedom 3rd gen. There are a handful of “non essentials” that Christians continue to debate.
This is what it looks like when freedom meets faith. But, the one thing that Christians are united on is Salvation by faith.
That is non negotiable. Faith in the self-resurrection of Jesus as he historically predicted. Because he lives, so will I. (John 14:19) It really is that simple. It was game over when he walked out of that tomb. Bada Bing!
It was for freedom that Christ set us free - Gal. 8:1
Freedom is messy a little. Cults try to create a cheap imitation with their uniformity.
Now, here’s the big question: Why is God so interested in our Freedom that he would go to the lengths that he did?

Time to increase your medication Riley. I think you have hit a plateau where right and wrong don’t matter anymore.
Do you know how dangerous it is to promote lawlessness? Where does it end?

illegal immigrants are statistically more unlikely to commit crimes than native born Americans.
Nonsense. They are committing a crime by being here.

Jephthah's Daughter

the bible says that after weeping over her virginity that the maidens would visit her annually.

God sacrificed himself:
“feed the church of God which he purchased with his own blood”. - Acts 20:28
Jesus, the man, said that no one takes his life, he gives it up because of his own volition.
Lots of people have given their life to save others.
Like a good dad, God put this burden on himself.

Our brains are supercomputers and are estimated to perform up to to 10^28 floating point operations per second (FLOPS). That count is equal to roughly half of all atoms in the known universe. Our brains are highly efficient compared to supercomputers, which require significantly more power to achieve similar performance levels, which in turn require an elaborate infrastructure of electricity generation.
Our brains do all this with just 3 lbs. of meat. We have a 3lb. meat computer that quickly becomes goo after we die, but not so with your soul/spirit.I think perhaps some atheists, feeling unable to rest their hope on anything because they fear it will lead to disappointment and sadness, somehow resent seeing feelings of hope and assurance, religiously based, in others and so, want to fight or push against it...
Perhaps. Or, maye they feel threatened by the prospect of being conscious forever apart from God and it requires a lot of effort to suppress what God's Word says. .
Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God Who gave it (Ecclesiastes 12:7).
Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward? (Ecclesiastes 3:21).
As Stephen’s body went to its death, earth was receding but Heaven’s gate approaching. He knew that he was entering into another sphere of the living. He prayed: “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit” (Acts 7:59). This disciple of Christ did not seek to postpone death or to fight it off. His murderers held no fear for him. He remembered the words of Jesus: “Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do”
In Christ’s account of the rich man and Lazarus we have the matter summed up and settled that the soul is conscious after death. Both men died and were buried. Though their bodies were in the graves, each of them was alive and conscious. The rich man in Hell could see, hear, speak, and feel (Luke 16:19-31).
By far the formost docrtine of Watchtower is the rejection of the new covenant "for the forgiveness of sins" Jesus offered to "whosoever" at Mt. 26: 27-28. Probably equal to this heresy is the teaching that consciousness ceases when your body expires. This teaching removes healthy curiosity (and gravity) about where a person might want to spend eternity. Without that, the self-resurrection and offers of safe passage that Jesus presented are almost meaningless.
Also, both JW's and atheists do not believe that there will be a judgment after death.
it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: - Hebres 9: 27
The word of God says that Jesus Christ will judge every person who has ever lived (Acts 10:42).
Believers will be judged by Jesus where they will fully understand the entirety of His extravagant grace while fully grasping the depth of their depravity.
1 Corinthians 4:5, Paul writes of Jesus disclosing the hidden motives in believers’ hearts. In other words, peoples' supression of reality will replace convenient fantasies.
Jesus will expose the true nature of a believer’s heart to him or her.
But I tell you that everyone will have to give account on the day of judgment for every empty word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12:36-37
I think this is likely what is driving atheist and JW polemics against Christians.

I would ask respectfully, "but then why don't people just send themselves to heaven earlier?"
@Blondie
Because you wont have a physical body in heaven until the resurrection (at the Rapture). Members of God's family who die will be disembodied spirits/souls, awating the resurrection of the body. Being in the presence of the almighty and previously deceased loved ones in a place of pure love and peace is a wonderful alternative to separation from God and all good things he made. But, people would nonetheless like to get back into their bodies as soon as possible.Phil. 3: 21 - Who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
Also, some people don't think that their work here on earth is done yet. Perhaps they have children they are still mentoring and helping.
